Champion Cherry Bars


1 cup margarine, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 (12-ounce) package vanilla milk chips
2 cups Mariani Cherries


1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Combine margarine, granulated sugar and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl.
3. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla.
4. Combine flour and baking powder; gradually add to mixture. Stir in vanilla milk chips and dried cherries. Spread dough evenly in greased baking pan.
5. Bake for 30 minutes, or until light golden brown. Do not over bake. Cool in pan, then cut into bars. Store in airtight container. These bars also freeze well.
